Objective of the Project/Program:

The extreme poor households living in the selected char areas in Lalmonirhat and Rajshahi Districts will be benefitted through comprehensive packages of support which include improved agro-based production and market linkages: promoting entrepreneurship, employment and job placement, improved government safety net, agricultural services and resources, protecting assets from natural disaster and climate change, expanded government, private sector and foundation investment.

The overall objective of the project is to improve food security of the extreme poor in selected remote island chars of Bangladesh.

Project Location/Working Area:  3 unions of Sadar Upazila, Lalmonirhat district and 1 union in Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi district.

(ii) Pathways from Poverty: Building Economic Empowerment & Resilience for extreme poor households in revering areas of Bangladesh (PFP) Phase-II project

Objective of the Project/Program :

The project objective is to graduate around 60,000 extreme poor people (from 15,000 new BHHs and 16,850 old BHHs respectively) in rural areas from extreme poverty by project year 3.

The project objective is to improve livelihoods of 15,000 new vulnerable char land households with improved livelihoods and increased resilience to natural disasters.

(i) 5,500 extreme households supported in securing operational access to sand bar and underutilized land and water by year 3 (output 1),

(ii) 9,500 BHHs secure food and income from other on-farm and off-farm livelihoods options (output 2),

(iii) Provide support on basic service, asset protection, networking and linkages to 15,000 BHHs (output 3).

Besides, organizing the beneficiary households through groups, capacity building of the beneficiary households and economic empowerment of the households through providing income generating activities (IGA) are the objectives of the extension phase.

Project Location :

12 Unions of 3 Upazilas (Gongachora, Kaunia & Pirgacha) of Rangpur District and 1 Union of Ulipur Upazila, Kurigram District.

 

(iii)   Pathways from Poverty: Building Economic Empowerment & Resilience for extreme poor households in revering areas of Bangladesh (PFP) Phase-II project ( No cost extension phase)

Objective of the Project/Program :

  • The project objective is to graduate around 60,000 extreme poor people (from 15,000 new BHHs and 16,850 old BHHs respectively) in rural areas from extreme poverty by project year 3.

(iv) Integration of Nutrition component under Pathways from Poverty (PFP) Phase-II

Objective of the Project/Program :

  • Increasing awareness on Nutrition amongst the infant, youth, pregnant and neonatal women,
  • Mother and child health care development,
  • Providing training on Nutrition and Health,
  • Counseling about nutrition and health through visiting house to house,
  • Providing concept about the usefulness of breast feeding and supplementary foods;

Distribution of medicine and nutritious foods.

Project Location :  3 Upazilas (Gongachora, Kaunia & Pirgacha) of  Rangpur District and 1 Upazila of Kurigram District.

 

(v) Water Efficiency for Scaling up Sandbar cropping through a market based approach (USAID SWFF Project)

Objective of the Project/Program :

  • Free individuals/communities from the exploitative mechanism of the society by raising consciousness and self-esteem.
  • Make people aware about the root causes of poverty in order to encourage seeking of collective solution.
  • Motivate people undertake socio-economic development activities in order to attain self-reliance.
  • Capacitate beneficiaries by providing practical technical training, IGA management skill, group mobilization and market linkage.
  • Provide micro-finance support to beneficiaries for IGA, micro-enterprise and business development purpose.
  • Ensure beneficiaries’ continual participation through awareness raising and advocacy (e.g. on environment, health and sanitation, gender, HIV/AIDS, good governance, human rights, women’s rights, indigenous community rights, dowry, child labor, poverty, early marriages) and on issues directly or indirectly affecting their lives.
  • Intensify support on the role of women in development (WID).
  • Assist battered widowed, separated, divorced women though technical support, economic assistance and linkage.
  • Improve family care by providing health nutrition and sanitation, family planning, and child care program.
  • Increase educational level especially among girls/women through primary, adolescent and adult education.
  • Each farmer will get LSD 203 as loan paid back in 6 months with 11% service charge, training cost is included in the loan package.
  • An effective market system will be developed through local market actors/middlemen (around 164) for pumpkin sale in local, regional and national market.
  • Develop and promote a commercial model of sandbar cropping in the project areas by creating access to barren sandbar lands to help the extreme and vulnerable poor households living on the flood protection embankment for their economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods development.
  • Building capacity to reduce vulnerability from natural disasters and ensure access to common property resources for food production through efficient use of water, processing and marketing.

Project Location : 3 Upazilas (Gongachora,  Kaunia & Pirgacha) of  Rangpur District and 1  Upazila of Ulipur,  Kurigram District.

 

(vi) Enhancing Resources and Increasing Capacities of Poor Households towards Elimination of their Poverty-ENRICH or ‘Samriddi’ of PKSF

  • Capacity building of the poor families participates in the programs so that they can alleviate their poverty on the basis of sustainability and step forward proudly with a view to eliminate their poverty.
  • Ensuring access of the poor to health, education and nutrition especially to give attention to the women and children.
  • Confronting the natural disasters unitedly with the local population and relevant institutions and taking effective measures in the matter so as to keep proper contribution in post disaster rehabilitation.
  • With a view to poverty alleviation, expediting sustainable decrease of poverty from grassroots level and implementation of development process through cooperation and manifestation of Government/NGOs/Private organizations are to bring about.

Project Location : 33 villages of Chandaikona Union under Raigonj upazila of Sirajgonj District.

 

(vii) Development of Distressed Women under VGD (Development Package for Women Beneficiaries)

Objective of the Project/Program:

The objective of the project is to implement the programs for development of socio-economic status of distressed and extreme poor women beneficiaries of VGD. The main aim and objectives of the program are to impart training on different issues of creating self-employment (IGA), providing loan support, besides ensuring food security through distribution of food, empowering and making the VGD women beneficiaries able to earning, empowering and establishing them financially and socially in the society with dignity through providing awareness raising training.

 

Project Location : Birgonj upazila of Dinajpur district.

 

 

(vii)  Improved Cook-Stoves (ICS) Program

Objective of the Project/Program : The overall objective of the ICS Program is to further

develop and disseminate ICS in rural areas of Bangladesh with the ultimate goal to increase the

energy efficiency of the fuel used for cooking while reducing exposure to indoor air pollution

and decreasing health hazards.

Project Location : Raigonj upazila of Sirajgonj District and Sadar & Bochagonj upazilas of Dinajpur District (3 Clusters)

 

Project Name: 09. Solar Home System (SHS) Program

Objective of the Project/Program:

  • Manufacturing, installing and supplying 12,000 SHS to the household beneficiaries with microcredit supports in 4 districts – Sirajgonj, Pabna, Rajshahi and Natore during the project period.
  • Improving livelihood status and socio-economic development of the poor beneficiaries by supplying and installing of renewable solar energy and thereby ensure clean environment.
  • Meeting the demand of alternative power supply for rural poor people for the use of their domestic and commercial purposes for income generating activities (IGA).
  • Making considerable improvement in rural life of poor people through income generation with microcredit supports and thus alleviating poverty;
  • Bringing positive changes in terms of better household facilities, women’s welfare, children’s education, creating employment opportunities and decreasing rural migration to urban areas through creation of job opportunities,
  • Providing clean, safe and environment friendly renewable energy and saving the precious natural gas reserve resources

Project Location : 4 Districts – Sirajgonj, Pabna, Rajshahi and Natore.
